Conceptual design services for the proposed 25,000 GSF MOAS West Wing Addition. The program for the competition mandated that the new addition work in concert with the varied architectural styles on site, in particular the recently completed MOAS Children’s Wing. The existing planetarium was to be relocated and incorporated into the new footprint. The central corridor linked the five galleries while also creating a controled division between in-house service components. A secondary building entrance was created to increase public accessibility.

The MOAS West Wing Addition was designed to house the three most widely marketed MOAS galleries: The China Gallery, Cuban Gallery, and Florida History Gallery. Extruded metal and canvas banners enabled interchangable building graphics to help aid in the public promotion of each gallery. The shifting sizes of aluminum exterior cladding emphasized the human scale while creating a convergence between the new MOAS West Wing Addition and existing Children’s Wing.
